Eastside Tavern (1510 E Cesar Chavez St)

Updated: Apr 16, 2023

Imagine yourself sitting in a pasture in central Texas. The birds are chirping, not a cloud in the sky. The smell the bluebonnets and fresh wildflowers flowing in the wind. Look to your right, you notice a full sized Texas cattle. Look to your left and gander at a swine as beautiful as snow on Christmas morning. Now fast forward 16 hours to the same pasture. Look to your right, look to your left, you see nothing. That's because Eastside has been cooking those beautiful animals low and slow to deliciousness in their smoker out back.

Food

Turkey Avocado Toast: If you don't feel like putting on 10 pounds while here, this is a good option. The turkey is smoked and delicious, but just doesn't satisfy a 6'7 man who is hungry for brunch.Brisket Hash: Great flavor. Can't go wrong with brisket, peppers, onions and potatoes over well cooked eggs. Portion could be a little larger for my liking.

Brisket "S.O.S.": If you have an appetite, this is a must. This SOS is a delicious take on the normal toast and burger meat gravy. Big flavor and big portionPulled Rib Sandwich: Pulled Rib over a bacon bourbon marmalade with bleu cheese and shallots, do I even need to say more? Delicious sandwich that will have you wanting more!

Drink

Brunch at Eastside tavern is an event that every citizen of Austin should experience. For the low low price of $12, you can enjoy all the mimosas, that even a scurvious pirate would be jealous of. The mimosas are brought to the table in a carafe, ranging normally from a 1 to 2 orange pour. Based on this, we are rating Eastside a 1.5 orange rating overall.
