I like big biscuits and I cannot lie, you other brothers can't deny, when a waitress walks in with a itty bitty plate and a big biscuit in your face, you get sprung. In the words of Sir Mix-A-Lot; Irenes has back, in the form of buttery pillows of goodness. Coupled with a great ambiance of family style seating and a beautiful open patio, Irene's is a brunch place to be reckoned with. On my latest trip to Irene's we had a good 11 people which were able to fit easily at a 11am brunch start. Not many places can boast that here in Austin. So grab your closest 15 friends and pop into Irene's for a tasty biscuit.

The Food:
Biscuits and Gravy - Need I say more? What's more American than taking a butter filled piece of dough, and then smothering it with a butter and cream based gravy? You really can't go wrong with this stick to your ribs dish. The biscuit does make this dish over the top, as it just crumbles into the smooth sausage covered gravy.
Migas - It is a solid dish, very typical of a Migas dish you'd find at a Mexican restaurant in Austin. Nothing to be sad about, but also nothing you'd tell your neighbor when you are forced into small talk with him. Damn you Steve, i don't care about your grandmother in Alaska with 11 toes!

The Drink:
The mimosa situation at Irene's is simple, $5 will get you one glass, $25 for the whole bottle. This is kind of steep compared to some of the other spots we've reviewed, but it is a higher quality champagne. Accompanied by an ice bucket, with the bottle is always a good thing. With that said, the overall mimo situation at Irene's comes in at a 2.5 Orange rating.
Look at how much fun we're having!!!!!
